Legion is my first true war game.
Coming from another of FFG’s products, X-Wing TMG, I had a lot to learn about the ins and outs of assembling, painting, and playing with war game miniatures. I had never done any of it before. In a frenetic weekend, I binged all of Sorastro’s painting videos, thought worriedly about whether or not Legion would be right for me, and ultimately bought myself a copy.
Since then, it’s been a labor of love to slowly figure out everything I needed to do for this game, but I’ve enjoyed every step of the way. I am by no means an expert at painting miniatures or developing complex strategies, but I feel that it’s important to pass on what I’ve learned.
So I decided to share my passion as a beginner in this hobby by creating a blog specifically designed to give total newbies an entry point into Star Wars Legion, from initial purchase to the first few games on the table. There wasn’t one place where I could learn all the basics, and so it was important to me to try and create that place here at Imperial Discipline.
And why the name? Let’s go to Mr. Bob Ross for the answer:
This blog isn’t about in-depth strategy, meta reports, or rampant speculation (you can find a lot of really excellent blogs and podcasts for that kind of thing over on the Resources page). It won’t cater to the hardcore. Instead, it’s a safe nest for anyone new to Legion or wargaming as a hobby to learn the ropes. A place to cultivate their interest into a talent, a discipline.
At the end of the day, I really do think anybody can do what I do. It just takes practice.
Hopefully you find something useful while you’re here. But if you don’t reach out to me at the Contact page and let me know what you’d like to see!
